Johnny used this photograph of his friends playing in the kitchen to collect ideas for a story. He used the iPad app Draw & Tell to illustrate his story and record his voice.
Student-led conferences are a chance for students to take the lead and show their families some of their best work, favourite activities, and how much progress they've made over the year.
In other words . . . a celebration of learning!
Here is Johnny's reflection on his Student-led Conference:
Johnny made this pattern using different manipulatives we have in the classroom. He chose to include this work in his portfolio because: "I like orange and I like red." Johnny's work shows his ability to create and extend simple patterns.
Recently we have been doing a lot of playing with shapes. We have been studying their form and observing how they appear in different ways in the world around us. Johnny can confidently name the common shapes: circle, triangle, square and rectangle. He is also challenging himself to learn the names of new, more complicated shapes. He demonstrates this knowledge as he names the shapes in the video below. Johnny chose this piece for his portfolio because: "I like stamps".
